IT’S T-TIME

Happy New Year guys! Hope your year started off well? As for me, I believe it has. This year I can say looks and feels so much more promising than the last. It’s time for a new adventure.

So excited to start my blog up in a partnership with one of the top fashion houses in East and Central Africa – LITTLE RED. Little Red is a store that sells and deals with genuine designer brands such as Hugo Boss, Salvatore Ferragamo, Ermenegildo Zegna, Pal Zileri, Brioni and many more reputable brands. I’ll feature more about the store in upcoming blogs.

I got a chance to do a shoot in Hugo Boss Green. Hugo Boss has various collections – Hugo Boss, Boss Green, Boss Orange and Hugo. Boss Green is the more youthful collection and mainly focuses on sportswear and golf. Some of the best polo t-shirts are from Boss Green collection.

For the shoot I decided to keep it cool in blue tones. Here I’m wearing my navy Hugo Boss cap, a Hugo Green detailed polo, and a pair of aqua shorts accessorized with a white belt.

The photo shoot was done at the Karen Golf club, where LITTLE RED was sponsoring a hole for the Kongoni Tournament, which through the east African Character Development and Education Fund, aims at transforming the lives of thousands of disadvantaged young Africans through sports and education.

STAY WINNING

I’ve been blogging for almost 2 years now. It has been a great journey. I’ve had some good and bad experiences – but mostly good. The bad includes challenges such as finances, developing content and finding the time to do shoots for the blog. I’m not complaining though…hahaha.

Despite all, the blog has been a success so far if I may say so myself. I feel more people now also appreciate the hard work and effort I’ve put forward. I get more views each day, more feature publications in the media and finally won an award!!!
However, I couldn’t have done it alone and the success is to be shared. I would like to thank some special people who made this happen. This team helped me reach where I am today and achieve my goals. I’ll start with Brian Emry. Brian pushed me to start writing about fashion and not just post dapper pictures on my Instagram. So thank you Brian. You saw the future and it is bright bro! The second person is KN – she’d like to remain anonymous, lol. KN really helped me in developing appropriate content, particularly in terms of polishing up my language skills and reminded me of the importance of remaining consistent and disciplined when blogging. Plus what’s a blog without pictures?? Mavo_gg is an amazing and talented photographer who effortlessly captured every fashion moment with such professionalism. His work speaks for itself. I’d also like to mention Lewis Msunza and Kimmy Moore who were behind the scenes, but also quite crucial to the team. Lewis handled the technical side of the blog and Kimmy was my make-up artist. These ladies and gentlemen, are my I.M. TEAM and I want to thank them for where I am because I wouldn’t have gotten here without them. Thanks guys and be blessed.
So WE (the team, my fans and you the reader) won the award of THE BLOGGER OF THE YEAR on the Pwani International Fashion Week & Awards (PIFWA). Thank you all again and to God for allowing me to experience this dream. Thank you to all who continuously voted for me – without those votes I wouldn’t be a winner. So I thank you 1000x over. Here’s to more winning!

KOROGA FESTIVAL

One of my favourite social events in Kenya is the Koroga Festival. I love attending to watch the artists from all over Africa perform like Papa Wemba, Alicia, Fally Ipupa and more. It’s about the music and celebrating the artists in a vibrant atmosphere.
Fashion is also a big part of Koroga. When you talk about Koroga Festival you have to think of making a fashion statement. This is because people usually come dressed to kill. It’s a great place to enjoy music as an art, as well as express your individual style through fashion.
I attended this event in my standard Sunday smart-casual look. I don’t really feel confident wearing all casual even though the event is quite relaxed. Throwing on a blazer is always a great way to refine your style.
So for this event I got dressed by a store by the name of CONTRAST INC ( https://www.instagram.com/contrastinc_/ ). It’s a men’s fashion store. What I love about the store is that their clothes didn’t need any adjustments apart from the trouser length. Another great thing is that they have unique items at affordable prices. I managed to grab myself a green travel blazer and a floral shirt, plus some milk white khaki pants.

OVERCOAT

It’s really getting cold out here in Nairobi, Kenya. Bye bye blue skies, hello grey clouds. But issokay!!The weather may be dull but your outfit doesn’t need to either. This is the time to dress up in those really warm stylish outfits that we love but don’t get to wear like scarves, pull necks, thick sweaters and overcoats.
I chose to style my cashmere and wool overcoat in a formal look. The overcoat is usually worn on top of a blazer or suit jacket. I wore it without a jacket under it.
This time round – the ladies ain’t left out. I collaborated with a special friend – Valentine  Marshall. She’s featured wearing a classic canary yellow warm trench coat with an oversized collar, paired with high waisted skinny leg denim and cameo heels for a bit of an edge.
Hope you get inspired ☺

WARMING UP

Ok. So, I was expecting it to be cold, but not this cold. It’s getting to a point that it’s even snowing. I’m happy it’s snowing since I’ve never touched or seen real live snow except on those jolly American Christmas movies.

In Kenya I don’t think we really prepare ourselves for the cold season and just how serious it can get. I always seem to get caught off guard. As you know by now, I’m usually in formal wear from Monday to Thursday, especially suits. Now I find myself having to wear cable knitwear and jeans – not forgetting my boots. May not be my usual choice but at least they are keeping me really warm. And for this weather, it’s better to be safe than sick.

GET STRETCHED

I’m a fan of khaki pants when it comes to casual dressing. I find it easy to switch up styles with khakis from super smart to comfy casual. I rarely wear jeans cause I find that they’re not really my style, generic, and don’t allow me to express my dress sense enough. Mainly because to do so – for me –  you need well-fitting jeans to flow with your slim fit shirt or blazer. Finding perfect fit jeans is like landing on a gold mine, plus tailoring them is very difficult too.
Luckily, we can now find stretch denim with better fits. Stretch denim is a type of denim cotton that contain 3-4% a small of elastane, a stretchy, synthetic fiber. They are usually fitting and provide movement to the wearer due to the flexibility in them. So now, I am happy to say that I have a khaki alternative which makes me look good and feel comfortable, as well as dress up or dress down for the occasion.
